Hombre Sabio Bio
This bio was written by: Hombre Sabio
If you’re reading this page, then you obviously came to find out about Hombre Sabio (a.k.a. Ryan Rick).
Well, first things first, I’m sure you’re wondering about my name. Hombre Sabio means Wise Man in Spanish. The full name is El Hombre Sabio de la Montaña de Topos (The Wise Man of Mole Mountain). I’m still not exactly sure how I came up with that nickname, but it quickly stuck and I’ve been using it for over 5 years now.
Things I like:
Video Games - I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember. Not only do I enjoy playing games, but I enjoy talking about them and the industry as well, which is how I ended up with this gig here at The Brood. I’d say it worked out well for all parties.
Debates - I’ve always loved a good debate. And I’ve always been rather opinionated. So, debating comes naturally to me. I enjoy debates because they allow for the exchange of information and opinions. It’s always good to learn about the other point of view, and that is what debates accomplish.
Technology - While I may not be a tech geek, I’d like to think that I’m on the road to being one. I’ve always had a fascination with technology. From computers to MP3 players, I find enjoyment in all things tech, even if it’s something that I don’t know how to use.
Writing - Well, I wouldn’t be contributing to The Brood if I didn’t enjoy writing. Whether it be editorials or poetry, or anything in between, I like to write simply because It helps me get my thoughts out. And often, it is much easier to express oneself through writing than it is through talking (plus, when writing, you can edit out the stupid stuff).
How I came to be a member of The Brood
I started off my days on the G4TechTV forums (now known as the G4 forums). A majority of my posts were in the X-Play forum. It was there that I met most of the other members of The Brood. Myself and the others used to all post with great frequency there, but soon the forums took a turn for the worse. The intelligent discussions were replaced by more and more flame wars, spam, and other forums of ignorance. We began to take refuge from the X-Play forum. Well, what better way to take refuge than to have our own place. The Brood forums were born. Rah’s trust in me led him to immediately choose me as a moderator. It was later that the group of us decided that The Brood should be something more than just a forum. It should be a place to put down our thoughts in the forms of the editorials and reviews that were quickly glazed over when they were posted in the X-Play forum in favor of spam and flame wars. This was the birth of The Brood site. And with the editorials that I had already written (in anticipation of another project of mine that fell through), I was chosen to be a big contributor to the site. So, here I am. Hombre the editorialist.
